Surgeon Testimonial

Hugh Houston
I want to first say that I went to numerous seminars, read every booklet, studied every website, but once I sat in on Dr. Hugh Houston at Centennial that night in April, I knew I had found not only the hospital for me but the surgeon!!
I immediately submitted my paperwork to proceed.
Dr. Houston made me feel at ease from our first meeting, I am now 11 days post op and know for fact I have made the right decision.
He is easy to talk to, he never rushes me and if my husband or I either one have a question he takes the time to answer us.
He has a waiting list, but in my opinion he is so worth it!
Everyone in his office is just as friendly, and if you have any concerns or questions they will help you. Most of his staff are weight loss patients as well, so they have " been there".
If you are looking for a surgeon, I highly suggest Dr. Houston!!

My Story

I am a 39 year old wife & Mommy. I have battled weight all of my life, I was always on that "yo-yo". I was able to maintain my goal weight for several years in my early 20's and at 28 when I got pregnant with my youngest son I put on about 50 pounds which I was unable to lose. I went straight back to work when he was 5 weeks old, and have always been very active since then. One day while at work I bent over to pick something up and something went "snap!" in my spine.
Long story short I was diagnosed with Lumbar Disc Disease and had to have spine surgery to repair the ruptured disc and relieve some impingments. After 6 months of no improvement my job of 13 years released me, so set in depression on top of all of that.
I began to research weight loss options, and tried nearly all of them..Phen-Phen, Weight Watchers, Atkins, Carb Counters, I tried Meridia, and countless EXPENSIVE others to no avail. One thing kept coming back to mind, weight loss surgery!
I attended several seminars, scanned websites, etc. At the end of my wits I attended one last one at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, and Dr. Hugh Houston was the speaker. I KNEW by the time I walked out that not only did I find the hospital I wanted by the surgeon too! I was fortunate with my insurance company, I sat in on his seminar April 2010, I went to my family doctor and started my 6 month medically supervised diet, I had my RNY November 8, 2010. I feel very blessed.
I am now down 30 pounds and have not had any complications at all, if anyone wants to add me, feel free to. I ask a lot of questions, I do a lot of reading, maybe we can compare notes, recipes or stories
