Trading My Armor For A New Me!
Feb 22, 2011
Since I am in Glen Burnie with a friend over the Presidents Day Sale weekend we decided to check them out. WOOHOO my bras are cheaper now and they are right there with all the other sizes, not in some dark section in a specialty store hidden away. First I shopped for pants with my husband, I used to be a 5x at Catharine's so I figured with the way my pants were falling off I might just be into a 3x. I was so wrong. 2x just fit I was shocked, I didn't have a clue that was what was going on. Two days later with my friend we hit another store and I started trying on clothes, which I still hate by the way, and started with a 28 in jeans. Nope didn't fir right, went to a 26 and started to feel better. Kelly started bringing me stuff to try and without realizing it her and the sales lady snuck in a size 24. OMG they fit great! I couldn't believe it. A year ago I was a 38 if I was lucky and now and 24.
One thing this made me realize is that Jenna is right I need to take more pictures. When I look in the mirror I still see fat but now with a bunch of skin. I guess my brain just thinks that the fat is rearranged, but its really not. Pictures make it hard to lie to yourself and see whats going on, and trying on clothes REALLY let you see what is happening. I just never saw it till I was standing there in the dressing room getting measured for a bra and I looked in the mirror and saw my turkey neck. At first I thought "OMG what happened to my neck!", then I thought "OMG I'm going to need a neck lift!"
I still hate spending money on clothes, bras and such, and I still don't find trying on clothes "fun" like a girl is supposed to, but I am not upset enough to sew my own underwear (which the size has also changed). I will, however, stop wearing the old clothes like old armor I need to hide myself under and start purging the clothes, the thoughts, and the old feelings about myself.

I also had to go through clothes again because I only want clothes I can wear in the closet. Getting ready to give a batch of more to friends. It is freaky how things that were tight are now so loose. Some I never got to wear EVER! I havent run out of clothes yet but I will soon, that is when it will be Goodwill time. Our goodwill sucks when it come to clothes for me. Well off to the 50% off all clearance this weekend at Catherines!
