Tips for newbies

I've been puttering along here just fine -- now 12 days post op (!).   Sometimes I wonder if my surgeon actually did anything to my stomach, but then I'm reminded that I'm still on a liquid diet and there is no way I'd ever survive a liquid diet because I'd be starving all the time.  I have had moments of hunger, but only when I've not been drinking my liquids.  So drink your liquids.

Another tip:  I often drink things out a of a shot glass now, after finishing an entire protein drink in 5-10 minutes.  The shot glass is just about 2 ounces, so it slows me down and reminds me to take my time.  2 ounces every 15 minutes. 

The second tip is due to my HORRIBLE CONSTIPATION I experienced today.  I've never ever been constipated, and I have to tell you after today:  IT'S PAINFUL.  Do yourself a favor:  add some Benefiber to your water or protein drink (doesn't appear to have any taste) when you can.  PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING.  OUCH!


OTHER RANDOM THOUGHTS:

I've had fantasies of eating some things -- licking the seasonings off of my kids home made chicken nuggets, biting into a fresh, warm bread roll and maybe moments of ice cream and soft-baked cookies.  But I'm not tempted to actually eat these things -- I just fantasize about them.  lol.  I wonder if some day, years past surgery, if I'd ever be able to eat them on rare occassions -- the whole "moderation is key" that skinny people can do.  Or are those foods my trigger foods that would just send me into a downward spiral into the abyss of weight gain. 

I am looking forward now to eating pureed food -- a thought that did not appeal to me pre-op (ewwwwwwwww. pureed MEAT?!).  But not I crave real food and not protein drinks.  So boring -- I thought I was really cutting edge by putting pepper in my chicken broth.  

I don't know if my taste buds changed...chicken broth taste the same, and I didn't try the protein drink pre-op.  I'm surprised that I'm drinking V-8.  Seems so gross to me pre-op, like it now because it is so different than protein drinks!!
