Surgeon Testimonial

Christine Chu
Dr. Chu has been a wonderful doctor through out the entire process. She answers emails directly and timely. She has been very responsive to my questions and when I have had issues relating to surgery. I had to return to the hospital and she called me in my room as soon as she found out and arrived to discuss what we could do. Her recommendations did the job. rnShe does speak quickly which some may take as rushed. I didn't go into the process expecting my hand to be held by my surgeon so I never felt I was being pushed through. They do run a tight schedule but I was given plenty of time and opportunity to pose any concerns or questions. I am very happy with Dr Chu. rnI would rate her a 10 out of 10.

Hysterectomy
on April 11, 2011 12:17 pm
Well my iron transfusions did the trick and my levels are high enough to finally undergo permanant remedy of my anemia.
I will have my hysterectomy surgery this Friday...yea!  Actually looking forward to it and everyone I have talked to is so glad they finally got it done.
My hubby will be off for a little over a week to help me out.  Can't wait to feel better again!!!

What GBS didn't fix...
on February 15, 2011 9:38 am
Well it took care of my fat a**, my acid reflux, my high blood pressure, liver functions etc... but the rediculously heavy cycles have actually gotten worse and unfortunately that means the anemia is worse.  I went in last week for my hysterectomy preop only to discover that my blood count is too low to even proceed any further until my blood count is increased soooo...
I will start iron transfussions weekly for a month and am on hormones to stop my cycle until we can get the blood count up high enough for the doc and anethesiologist to feel it's safe to do surgery without requiring a blood transfussion.  FUN!

I start the iron transfussions Friday.  Hoping my count rises enough to keep my St Patty's day surgery date.  :-)

Before and After
on September 1, 2010 8:31 pm
OMG!  I found my biggest (most comfortable) jeans from when I was a size 20 and was I shocked.  I can't fathom being that big ....... how insane is that?  My head never 'felt' that big......guess that's why i just kept getting bigger.  But I was able to put both legs in one side which is so bizarre because just like I didnt feel that big........I dont feel that small if that makes any sense at all.  I look at jeans I wear and think there is no way.   My  hubby was folding laundry the other day and couldn't believe that my daughter and I are so close in size that he could not separate our clothes.  She's 10.  I am trying to put off new pics until my 1 year mark in just a couple weeks!  WOW what a wild ride wooooowhoooooo!

My Story

My story............hmmmm, well, There is much more than I can put on a public website but in a nutshell I became a wife at 17 and a mom at 18 (18 by one month).  I knew my teenage fun was done and it was time to be 100% serious about life if I wanted a successful marriage and family.  My efforts were focused on making a comfortable family home life so my hubby could finish school and my kids could grow up in a stable environment.  For me this included the best family meals I could put together........not only was I good cook.......I liked to cook.  I am very grateful that I was given the opportunity to be a stay at home mom.  My kids and hubby have benefitted from an at home mom as much as I benefitted from being an at home mom.   As proud as I am of our humble beginnings,  I was still an immature, young mother.  I could only handle so much.  I didnt have room on my list for me.  I knew one day I would be ready to shift gears and now I am there.  Now I have the time, the security, the support and the freedom to be a bit more selfish than what would have been right in the beginnning.  I still love to cook so my family is going to suffer some what until I can get in control.  Right now.......the answer is no when they for chicken and dumplings, chicken bernaise or any of their favorites.

Egg White omelets with FF cheese and vegies, cottage cheese, laughing cow LF wedges on Akmak crackers, salads with grilled meat or steamed salmon......and an occiasional skinny cow icecream sandwich......that's what I'm living off and they are all living with it pretty well.

My boys are 22, 19 and I have a daughter who is 10.  My hubby is extremely supportive and already saving for plastics :)

I am so ready to move into a new chapter in life and I appreciate the support of my OH friends in that new chapter.

I look foward to one day being an inspiration to someone who is in my position.

My surgery is Sept 16th 2009 at Kaiser Fremont.
