The deed is done

I had WLS in Brugges on 23 June 2010, that makes me five days post op - and I feel great.  This is the best thing I have ever done for myself, not hungry at all... on liquids, soups, and yoghurts and so far, its not what I envisaged.  The pain lasted the day of surgery and the following day - although I was on pain meds, by the third day I was ok.  I have been off pain medication from the fourth day - and my healing is getting better by the day.  The service was excellent, my Doctor - I could not have asked for more.

I did this alone basically, went in for the surgery without spousal support and staying at a friends in post recovery, my advice - do not sit alone at home and whine after the surgery, especially when there are no support systems in place.  This is the best decision I have ever made in my life, knowing it could mean complications - and I am ready - whatever it takes!
To everyone considering WLS, well, it is not the answer for everyone, but for me, so far, my journey begun six months ago when I knew I had to absolutely have something done.  I do not know what the future holds - but I know - I will be there to see it - and hopefully in a thinner and happier form.  I feel like my life has come full circle!
