My Journey To The Decision Of Gastric Bypass Surgery...

Jun 28, 2011

As a kid I was average but had that gut that kids sometimes have. In Junior High School I was a slightly overweight kid, a Nerd still (as I am to this day, Lol !).

I grew out of being a little chubby, once in High School I played Soccer My Freshman Year, Junior Varsity/freshman team.  I was slender from then all the way up to my twenties.

Once I was diagnosed with a Mental Illness, the meds I was put on caused me to Gain over 100 lbs. I continuously struggled with my weight and the meds.

Now I'm 261 with clothes on , I was weighed recently at my Nutritionist appointment. My Highest was 312 lbs. in 2003. I laugh at that now, then I was scared and wondered how I even got to be that big.  But I know it was the Medication Plus Poor Eating Habits and I come from A family of Emotional Over Eaters.

I am currently working with my therapist and doing self work to conquer my Emotional Eating Habit.

I decided to get Gastric Bypass Surgery in January of this year (2011) because due to my size I have Type II Diabetes and High Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol ! Lovely Gifts from the severe weight gain from my psyche medications over time.

I was told in January by my doctor that I need to be put on Insulin !! I immediately thought No Way !!! I discussed things with my Mother and with her blessing I decided to begin the process of WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY !!! A total and complete Life Change.

I have successfully completed my steps and requirements for the Bariatric Surgery Clinic here in Denver and I will find out my Surgery Date in July or August.

I should have Surgery in September!!! I'm excited and my 35Th BIRTHDAY IS AUGUST 4TH SO I WILL ENJOY TEX MEX FOOD AND ICE CREAM AS MY TREAT.

I will enjoy it because it's a New Nutritional Way of Eating After Surgery, So I'm Having Fun Now, within Reason.

I've been eating everything under the sun but exercising and I've lost 20 pounds since 1 year ago. Exercise is key, I am creating a habit of it so after surgery it will Not be a problem.

Well THIS IS MY JOURNEY TO THE DECISION OF GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY--- THANKS FOR READING I WELCOME FEEDBACK AND COMMENTS. HUGS TO EVERYONE--- STEPHANIE. 6-28-2011  8:16PM MST.
