Update on visit with Dr. Provost

Jul 01, 2010

Dr. Provost sent me for a barrium swallow, not an upper GI like I thought. I, of course, vomited the barium during the study. The study showed clearly the blockage/stricture that wasn't allowing the barium to flow from my upper stomach down. Eventually, the vomiting itself forced some of it up, and some of it through to the rest of my digestive system.

The doctor said clearly, further surgery is the only answer. He figures he would turn my sleeve into a pouch like for gastric bypass. He also said that it would cost upwards of $100k. He can only help me if I go into the emergency room with some IV vitamins, but ... well, nothing can be done until I cough up some dough. I paid $250 for this advice.

Meanwhile, he recommended Carnation Instant Breakfast and sip, sip, sip.

I've thrown up 3 times last night and once today. I'm getting sicker.
