Does anyone know anything about hyperthyroidism?

I am a bit afraid to Google it....

I had my 6 month checkup on Friday. My weight is on track so that's good....but it seems my iron has bottomed out (my bad-the pills make me nauseous so most times I "forget" to take them. I have reformed my ways over the weekend though so please don't spank me!) and I have high levels of the thyroid indicator....which I forget what it's called at the moment.

Hyperthyroidism. Now, I know that a SYMPTOM of it is weight loss....but can it be CAUSED by weight loss???....that's my question. Because it seems like if its not, then maybe its something more serious?? Which is kind of why I don't want to Google it too much. Last time I Googled "enlarged liver and gall bladder cancer".....the results were not very good and unfortunately, pretty much all true :(

I had a very hard week around Easter; first Easter without my mom etc...prevalence and proximity of chocolate did NOT help either....so after a week of eating crappy and feeling crappy, at least finding out that maybe part of it could have been because of my plummeted iron....I felt better having a medical reason for it!!

I am not depressed! I just have low iron!

I am gonna get that on a bumper sticker....
