How to get from "what to eat" to "what to do" tonight...

Jul 26, 2010

Yesterday I finally told my parents and my sister in law about the surgery.   Mom & my SIL asked me a lot of questions and both felt that I had really done my homework and research and will be in capable hands with Dr Maguire.    My SIL and her hubby are recent empty nesters, both due to retire in the next few years.  She kept saying how we love to eat & drink, what will we do.  Funny, because we don't go out nearly as much as we want to either.

Anyway, while my hubby & I have talked about it a lot, it did finally dawn on me how much our life does revolve around food.  Every night it's "what do you want to eat" or  "where do you want to go to eat".   We go out, eat & drink, come home and he goes to his PC or the TV in our bedroom and I go to my PC or the TV in the living room.  And yet we talk at dinner about all the things we want to do - especially me knowing the surgery is scheduled and I can't wait for my new life.

So I guess my question is - how have others dealt with this issue/?  What do you do when your social life revolves around food & alcohol and you know longer can stomach (pun intended) either?  What things are you doing now instead of just going out to eat?
