How utterly embarassing - the wrong message got posted. Here's the right one. Tuesday is your day! Just remember you are on the journey of a lifetime. Try to enjoy every minute. It may sound weird now, but know that you are cared for and prayed for here, and all too soon this will be but a memory and you will be an inspiration to someone else. I am waiting for you on the losers' bench! ~ JudyAnne

It's a new year and I am growing.
on January 14, 2013 12:35 pm

I have been looking into blogging, but I thought why not start on my OH page. I am 340lbs again after getting down to a low of 285lbs and having to get an unfill and gain everything back. However, I will admit that I only got down that low because I couldn't hardly keep anything down and suffer from bad acid reflux. Well once I get my insurance handled I am going to get the lap band out because it has been determined that my reflux will keep getting worse if I kee getting it filled. I will keep you all updated on that.

But something strange is happening to me. At 33 years old and 340lbsI have finally stopped thinking about dieting. Crazy right? Well all I have been thinking about is eating smaller portions and exercising. I have a three year old son that needs me and I feel so bad that I don't even have the energy from laziness to interact with the way I should. Well that is about to change.

I bought a XBOX 360 Kinect with dance games and I am about to order Zumba. I will do the exercise ones when he is away and do the games for him when he is there. The goal is to start exercising and doing it with him all at once.

I have also started back officially drinking water today. Yep 42 ounces in and it is only 4pm. My new goals are to start off with small changes and increase them as I go along. I think that has been my major problem. I have always been looking at how fast I can do this or that without thinking how can I change this or that. Well I am going to change that too.

If you are a new person on here please know that weight loss surgery is a huge journey and should not be taken lightly or thought of as a get slim quick skeem. It may not work that way for you. If portion control is not a problem for you but what you eat, lap-band surgery is not for you either. I have decided to switch to the sleeve once I do decide to get my revision done, but I want to make sure that I am mentally prepared for it as well as on a better weight loss track of better eating and exercising. Good Luck!

Back at square one.

I went to the surgeons office last week only to find out I have gotten back up to my presurgery weight. They gave me a fill that put me over one notch from the cc when they unfilled my band because of acid reflux and I can feel the reflux starting to return so I already know that I am going to have to get the band out which is no love lost to me. While I was at the doctor's office last week the assistant that deals with the insurance side of things told me my insurance will cover a revision to a sleeve or gastric bypass if I have at least 6 months of supervised dieting and I have been on weight watchers exactly that timeframe. I am going to make an appointment to try and get my doctor on the page with me to get the revision to the vsg and maybe I can get the ds if this doesn't work. Since the DS is soooo invasive I am kind of scared of it, but glad that it could be an option if I fail or the sleeve fail me. I am basically on here today doing research and viewing other members grief on the same subject. I want to keep updating you so that new members can see what they could possibly go through. Everything isn't always green. We all want to lose weight and we all want to do it permanently, but if I had known all the new information that is coming out about the band when I had it done over five years ago, I would have never done it.

Uggghhh
on June 15, 2012 12:16 pm
Today I feel really fat. All of my jeans that I used to feel comfortable in are now too tight I mean tooooo tight. I gave away my bigger size jeans when I first got down to 306lbs so that I wouldn't go back and low and behold I am to that point. I went upstairs with my coworker who had already made herself two plates after a ceremony at my job to get some food and everyone was stairing and even asked her why was she getting another plate which in turn made me feel uncomfortable about making desert size plate because it felt like all eyes were on me too. Ugggghhh. I so can't wait until I get this fricking band out of me and possibly get the Duodenal Switch. I am so amped up for it now I think I will be heart broken if they tell me I am denied. Well at well over 300lbs and band failure they better not.!

Hope your day is better than mine.

UNFORTUNATELY
on June 13, 2012 3:36 pm
Well unfortunately like many other bandsters on here the band just isn't working for me. The band has caused me to have severe acid reflux for years since I had it and I wasn't able to see the surgeon for years about since my insurance didn't cover it. Well now that I have insurance that does 3 years later I find out that I cannot continue on like this not to mention that I am still obese. I went to the doctor in February and he had me get an upper GI. Well they weren't able to see anything going on in my stomach because the stupid band kept the fluid from reaching it! So they called me in immediately ane gave me an unfil to see if the acid reflux get better and boy did it. However, it also caused me to gain 25lbs in three months which now puts me back at 330lbs. I am upset about and I feel like the band was just a waste of my time. Now I am finding out from my doctor's office that a lot of people are having band problems so I am not alone. I am also finding out from people that this band causes scar tissue and is not reversible which is a crime because that was the main reason I chose to get it because it was less invasive, "safer" and totally reversible should anything go wrong.

I am now in the process of trying to get this band removed and go with the Duodenal Switch because if I have to go under the knife again for weight loss surgery I might as well do it all the way. I am choosing DS because I have even seen where some people have now went from Gastric Bypass to it so there is no need for me to get GB. I plan to be totally active on here for support again and I am hoping for a smaller healthier me within the next year.

Feeling Good!
on February 10, 2011 11:22 am
Okay so I started the HCG Complete Diet June 10, 2011 weighing in at 310lbs. A little over a month later I am down to 263lbs. I have lost more weight than I have from the lapband and I feel good. I must admit I have not been following the diet to a T but I have been eating a lot more healthier than before. I have finally set up a doctor's appointment for me to start getting fills in my band again. I am so excited because the doctor who performed my surgery is now at Howard Universi
ty where I will be transferring my care to. My new weightloss goal is to get down to 215lbs or by my birthday which is September 16 .

My Story

I guess you all have heard by now the childhood overweight blues. Well mine has a twist. I was always "bigboned" in elementary school, but it wasn't until I developed asthma and was hospitalized that I started to become overweight. I was put on steroids for my lungs and had to take them daily for years. This started at age 11. I remember to date that my sixth grade graduation dress was a size 24. How do a child wear a size 24? Well I slimmed a little in junior high to a 18 and gained that plus some back by high school. I have been in the 24's, 26's in clothes since then. The most successful diet I have been on would have to be Herbalife where you count your calories and drink shakes. Since adulthood my lowest weight has been 295 and my highest is now at 357. For some reason I am not ashamed to say that on here. I am 5'9 1/2". Usually when I tell people how much I weigh they are stunned, because of my height I don't look it. THANK GOODNESS. But I do feel it in my feet. The reason I am choosing weight loss surgery is because I know I don't have enough willpower to do it on my own. I need help. I will definitely work hard at changing old habbits and keep pictures of my goal body around me. I saw this model a long time ago that wore a size 20 and had a six pack of ab muscle I couldn't believe it and I am definitely after that as a goal. I don't plan to get onto the scale except doctors visits so I can really see progress. As a matter of fact the doc told me that a patient of his that just got the band three months ago has lost 60lbs without one fill yet. I definitely hope I could be like that. I have never really had a boyfriend just real good male friends and I want to know what that is like. I am getting old now and don't want to be alone forever. I want to have children someday that is another reason why I am losing weight now so that way I wont add extra weight onto my already too big figure.
