Describe your behavioral and emotional battle with weight control before learning about bariatric surgery.
I have always been heavy, always. I was a big baby (over 10 lbs at birth), was well over 100 lbs by the first grade, 200 lbs by the time I was a freshman in high school and 300 lbs by the time I hit 20. I tried many diets, but none of them ever worked for me. Food was everything for me, I ate when I was happy, when I was sad, when I was stressed, it was my coping mechanism for everything. There was nothing in life that could not be fixed by a double cheeseburger (although that too was a lie, and deep down I knew it!) I understood that I was killing myself, but felt like there was little or nothing I could do to change my weight since I had tried so many things and failed so many times. I felt hopeless and broken and lost, especially after I started a...

Bad updating skills, but it's time...
on May 23, 2012 8:38 am
So I lost my band in June b/c of some complications, was revised to the VSG on 8/1/11 and for the first time in my life I have reached my goal weight. Life with the VSG is everything I THOUGHT it was going to be with the band, my life is pretty amazing right now.

Horrible about updating...
on June 26, 2008 1:17 pm
since its been a year, I guess you can tell that LOL I am coming up on my bandiversary, and I am down 70 lbs in a year! I feel great and (according to my husband, and ex boyfried LOL) look great! My next goal is 199, I can't wait to see that number on the scale!

I hurt my back on Sat, I was reaching down to get a pillow off the floor and BAM I could not move. Went to the doc the following day, she thinks because I was sedentary for so long and now I am so active that the weak muslces in my lower back finally just gave up LOL So I have to rotate between a lidocain patch and a flector patch, and take a muscle relaxer at night (which really helps, but makes me feel like crap in the morning).

She thinks it will be about two to three weeks befrore I am back to normal, and then I have to start doing core exercises to get my lower back muscles back to where they should be so I don't have to go though this again.

Getting so close..
on July 5, 2007 7:54 am
It's all so close now I can't even believe it! I had my upper GI endo and that was pretty easy, and everything looked good. I have been on the Medifast for two weeks, although its been hard I have been pretty good about it and have lost 17 lbs. I am sleepy though and feeling kind of worn out, maybe from all the rushing around and trying to get things done befor the surgery. I know that people from church are going to be stopping by with dinners most nights and I want the house to at least look decent when they do.

Oh well, 4 days until my life changes forever. I am so exicted to start this new journey.

Crazy..
on May 21, 2007 8:47 am
So my journey up to this point has been insane, and moving so fast I don't even know where the time has gone. I remember thinking how far off my Cardio appointment seemed on April 30th and here it is, come and gone! I have a feeling I am going to blink and surgery will be upon me!

My Story

I have always been fat, always. I finally got sick of it and jumped in with both feet and got the Lap Band, wasn't the best decision I ever made but I would probably not be here today to tell my story if I hadn't done it. My revision to the VSG was the best thing that ever happened to me. I am finally the wife, mother and friend that I have always wanted to be.

Oh and I am super hot now, so that is a plus.
