Today is August 9, 2003. I feel pretty good, but am still getting tired. I plan to return to work on the 11th, when I will be 3 weeks Post-op. Fortunately in my job I can have others assist me with heavy lifting. According to my scale, I am down 30#. Will be overjoyed to be below 200# when that day arrives.

Hey everybody, I am now 2 weeks post-op. Everything is going good. However I still get tired and a nap in the afternoon is a "Good Thing". My scale said 240# today, down 27# from my origianl weigh in with Dr. Skogerson. Oh yes, I can sleep on my side now, not for a long period of time, but I can sleep there for a while.

Hey everybody, I am home. Surgery was the 22nd, and I was discharged on the 24th. Because I lived more than 1 hour from Carson City, I had to stay in the area until the 29th. I stayed with my sister-in-law in Yerrington, and she and her family took wonderful care of me. I stuck to clear liquids, popsicles, jello, and a tiny bit of yogurt until the 27th. I certainly was not hungry, but knew I had to "eat" something. Anyway, on the 27th, I took the plunge and she fixed me a scrambled egg. Yummmmm....... Nothing ever tasted so good. So, I am now 8 days post-op, and doing good. The Jackson-Pratt drain and staples came out yesterday, and I got to come home. That drain was no nice thing coming out. Flashbacks to the movie Alien kind of relate here..... I haven't had any nausea, vommiting, or other problems. I do seem to have a hard time getting enough water drank during the day though. But, I keep plugging away. Probably the most I have drank in 40 ounces in a 24 hour period. So, I will post again next week. Oh, by the way, I am down 18 pounds from my initial weight with Dr. Skogerson... woo-hoo.......

So close to a new you and so many emotions! I haven't had mine yet but am hoping for this summer. My thoughts are with you before, during, and after. Keep up with the posts. They do help. With each reply you get there are 10 others you have helped or touched in some form or way. Listen to your peers and mostly your Dr. and support group. they know what you need. I'll be watching for those updated posts!
