It's a glorious day up here in the land of the midnight sun. Clear blue sky, fresh air, mid 70s and . . . I got my approval today. Yesssss! Surgery should be Sept or Oct. I need to decide if I want open RNY or Lap. My husband had open in March 03 and is doing fantastic---down 130 pounds. I am a good candidate for Lap, but our doc has been doing Lap for just 2 months and doesn't take the gallbladder out with Lap. I would just as soon have it taken out, which he does with open, soooo I have some decisions to make. The doc is in Australia right now researching the Adjustable Band. Soooo, that is another choice I might have very soon. All of my pre-op tests are done so now a surgery date and surgery type are what I need to decide on. I have been a lurker for quite awhile and have learned so much on this site. Thanks for sharing. I'm so glad that Susan Maddy is doing well after her Lap yesterday. I'm looking forward to getting helpful hints from her about Lap and post op stuff. My hubby is my research project on Open and I could probably write a book! Well, we are heading down south to Indiana(midwest, I know, but anything is south for us here in Alaska---the other West Coast!)today for my folks' 50th anniversary celebration this weekend. A nice family gathering for a pre-op. Blessings to all, wherever you are in your journey.
