DENIED AGAIN!

Submitted 39 pages of things from my doctor; finished the six month diet, sleep study, alllllllllllll the other crap....'not medically necessary'. We'll have to see about that, BC/BS! HA!

doing excellent! She's up and walking, drinking the protein shakes and is doing great! I'm excited for her! I can't wait to see the transformation! I LOVE YOU MOM!

Today is my moms surgery date! She will be amongst you losers out there! She is scheduled in about 20 minutes! I'm totally excited for her (jealous!) but excited! LOL
She's about an hours drive from here having her procedure, since we don't have anyone in our city that does it. My dad is over there with her so I don't worry.

Sleep Study

I went in last night around 8:45 to start my sleep study. Filled out a health history questionaire, watched a video, then waited for the tech to come in and wire me up.
There were sticky things that were adhered with some type of paste that she stuck to my head, neck, face, legs and chest. She also taped a microphone to my throat.
It felt like I'd never fall asleep! I did finally, but not for long because I woke up not breathing. Fell back to sleep but woke up again because I was cold, but the tech brought in a blanket and told me I had been dreaming. How cool that they know that kind of stuff from watching my brain waves!
The tech woke me up around 5 something to get the wiring off and let me get dressed. I had to pee like nobody's business!
She told me there was some apnea going on along w/snoring and the report should be ready by next week sometime.
I didn't have time to go home and shower, so I basically took a washcloth and scrubbed my scalp to get the junk out of it! Man, am I ever tired!

10/30/06 - Called my insurance company to inquire where my denial letter was. They said it had been mailed on the 27th, so I should get it this week. They said it 'wasn't medically necessary' or some dumb thing. They said there was no 6 month supervised diet and the 5 yr obesity. There were also no notes stating what medication I was taking to get my cholestrol down as well as my blood pressure. Also no notes regarding my sleep apnea.
10/31/06 - Went to my dr. for month 2 of 6. He wrote my scripts for the issues and is scheduling my sleep study. I hope they hurry up and get this show on the road.

Today, I lost my best friend in the entire world. My dearly loved Jack Russell Terrier who name was Wishbone was killed today by a truck that ran him over w/o stopping.
This dog was the light of my life. He was a dog who stood by me no matter what. He always was running around the house, happy as can be with his 'baby' (whichever toy he had at the time). He was smart, loving and unbelieveably loyal and sweet. I love him with all that is me.
His precious white coat with a half-brown face, half-white face, his long snout and happy face....I'll never forget him.
I love you Wishbone. I'll see you again someday WISHES PRECIOUS KISSES!

9/18/06 - Met with my PCP for a referral and have him write a letter of medical necessity for surgery. He had a blood panel done that showed my triglicerides were crazy high and my blood pressure was elevated.
9/27/06 - First meeting with Dr. Tersigni. Very impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. His nurse Robin was unbelievably educated on the procedures! I decided to go the route of bypass over the lapband. I submitted what I had to Mindi, the insurance coordinator and also have my psych evaluation on Monday. Time to sit & wait. *Fingers crossed* : )
10/2/06 - Psych Evalutaion finished. Met with counselor who asked about my heath a bit, how my childhood was and if I was on street drugs or drank a lot. Everything is fine and they're sending the paperwork to my surgeon within a week or so. : )
10/12/06 - Talked to Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas. They JUST NOW got my paperwork from the surgeon. Seems like that kind of took a while. I've been calling Bc/Bs EVERYDAY to see if they've recevied my stuff. The gal I talked to said the surgeon's office faxed over 25 pages. Hopefully it's all they will need in order to approve me. BC/BS sent it over to the review dept. while I was on the phone and said it would be about 7 days before they had a decision. I want to know NOW! LETS GO ALREADY! GEEZE! LOL
10/16/06 - Called BC/BS this morning - DENIED. They said it's because I don't have their stupid 5 freakin year morbid obesity deal and the 6 month diet supervised! GRRR! Now what?!
10/18/06 - My mom who is a self-pay has her date! November 7, 2006 for her! Wish we were both going at the same time. How cool would that be?!
10/19/06 - Gathering the dreaded 5 year obesity paperwork. I think Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Texas hates my guts. That's ok, as long as they pay!! LOL
