Hello all,
I should update my profile with some details of my weight loss journey. My experience has been pretty uneventful...THANK GOD!
I am so very grateful to all who have shared their stories, goals, setbacks, joys and advice through this incredible site.
It's time I did the same. Well, as I said all went well.
No problems getting coverage, wonderful Dr, no complications, followed all of my doctors orders, walked the halls of the hospital just hours after surgery, walked around the block three times per day starting the first day home from the hospital, and no throwing up...not even once. I feel great and I am able to work out now. Yahoooo...
I prefer to workout at home.
I do free weights and ride my stationary bike for 7 miles, 4 to 5 times per week. This translates to 45 minuets of riding. I also have a stair master but I don't think I am ready for that yet. I mix it up from time to time and do an aerobic session or go swimming. I am working on making exercise a HABIT!!!!
Ugggggh, it has not kicked in yet......but I just act as if it has :) wink

Oh, I mentioned to Dr. Khalili that my hair is coming out in my combs and brushes. He made me feel better by assuring me that it would stop and that it should also begin to grow back after aprox 6 months or so post op.

I discussed with my Dr that I felt that I was not loosing as much or as fast as others. He said that I am on target. His expectation for my weight loss is 10 to 15 lbs per month, if I really work hard and exercise.

I shared with all of my closest family, friends and colleges about my WLS. I figured it might help someone else. I was a happy person prior to wls and I am just as happy now, but a whole lot healthier and I've only lost 48 lbs. I love life and want to be around for as much of it as possible.
When I looked into the mirror prior to surgery I saw a beautiful woman staring back at me. When I look into the mirror now I see a beautiful and healthier woman staring back at me.
I will post some pics soon and try to keep my profile updated.

Until next time.....working my new tool every day.
Peace and blessings,
Regina

Hello all,
Today is my 4th month and I am feeling GREAT! I started a whole new way of looking at exercise.
Prior to surgery, exercise was always a means to an end. I would only do it long enough to loose some pounds and then I would always stop. Well, it's time to do things differently.
I am diligently working on changing my attitude and thought process around working out. I am coming to terms with the FACT that it has to be a part of my EVERYDAY life. FOREVER! Just as natural as brushing my teeth, showering every day, going to work each day, caring for my sweet little dog, calling family and friends....etc

I exercise because I wish to be healthier
I exercise because I want to enjoy every precious day of my life.
I exercise because my body needs it to strive.
I exercise for LIFE!

Ok, off the soap box :)
My hair is still falling out but I think it may be slowing down some. I am not really sure yet. I will keep you posted on that one :(

I had my first feelings of getting sick earlier this week. I tried a bowl of cold cereal for the fist time post opt, soggy raisin bran is not my favorite, so I was eating it faster than I should have been.
I poured it into one of my little Bypass bowls but then it was like I totally forgot that I even had surgery.
I would always eat my cereal fast prior. I like the milk really cold and the bran flakes crunchy.
OMG!!!! yeeeeks I won't do that again. I just sat there and waited it out....The feeling was horrible, I wanted to cry but I was too scared to take a deep breath and cause more chest pain.
This self-clowning lasted about 10 minuets before the feeling finally subsided. It was like having a tennis ball stuck in my chest. My partner was right there with me supporting me and calming me down. (Thank you darling)

Riding bike 7-8 miles, 5 to 6 times per week.

This month has been a slow weight loss month for me. I have not been exercising :( The good news is..... I went on a cruise and did not gain any weight. That's a RNY miricle. The cruise was FANTASTIC.

I am feeling wonderful. Sunday ( New Years Eve) is my 39th Birthday and my goal is to be in the 100's by then.  My friends are throwing me a party.

Tonight I restart my exercise program. I am going to ride 5 miles on the bike.

Eeverything went great at 6 months. Dr. K. said that my A & D could be higher. All other levels are are in Perfect range. I will post again soon.

1/18/2007 197lbs. My total Loss to date -90.50

Ya-loooooow everyone and Happy New Year!

I hope all of your goals are realized in 2007. I wanted to break into the 100's by my birthday (12/31) I weighed in at 197.  I did it, and to top it all off, I had a great birthday with friends and family. However...It is now almost 3 weeks later and I am still stuck at 197 :(    I don't want to be a cry baby but this SUCKS!...running home after work to exercise and to call my wls sisters for a support, got cho back, pow-wow session.                    Peace and Blessing                  Regina

2/15/2007 ~I hope you all enjoyed Valentine's Day....just checking in with some up-dates. I was told that I should no longer think of exercise as "working out" Instead I think of it as "Training" Yes, I am training my body to loose fat. I got so board with the bike and so these days It's all about my Stair Master.

Todays weight 190lbs (finally down after a month long plateau) It finally broke with me loosing 7 pounds in seven days. OMG!!!

total lbs lost -97.50 ....getting close to the big 100lb mark.

No change in sizes, still wearing size 16 jeans...size 14 slacks and size 12 or large tops. The good news is that I can now wear many of my partners tee-shirts and stuff!!! That's FUN!  I went to a concert and was able to fit into a regular size concert t-shirt!!! That's fun too!

Ok, that's it for now...I'll be back soon.....Regina

2/27/07Today I have an appt with Dr.Khalili for my 9 month progress report and lab check. I will let you know how it goes. Tonight is also support group at Cedars. I love going and seeing everyone smile, love, laugh, and LIVE! My partner and I have met some really top notch poeple along this journey.  Love On High, Regina

3/8/07dang....sorry it took so long to post. Everything is fine, vitamin levels a lil low so I am taking care of that. I flipped completly out when they weighed me at Dr. K's office.....that scale and my scale are different by a whopping 10 lbs. I felt like i gained 10 lbs. EEEEEEEEEEECK! oh well, I'm all better now. (went home and adjusted my scale to match that one) I am training (working out) just about every day now and I think, low and dehold, I may actrully be HALF enjoying it. Shhhhhhh was that me...*looking around*  that's it for now, Just Me

Hello all,
Sorry for not keeping this up-to-date.
Well, I am now just over a year out. I am down 113lbs yahooooo!!! yes 113 lbs!!!!! and loving it. I feel great. I am still working hard at staying on my exercise/training program but it's going well. (could be better) I am able to eat lots and thats a good thing. Nothing big to report. Blood work was all done on my surgiversary 5/25, all was well. Some levels still need to be higher, working on that.
We just got back from a fantastic graduation/vacation celebration. My partner and i went to Jamaica with our family. We are very proud of our Master's degree graduate.  Go Dmon!
I love my new body, but i have lots of extra skin. I don't like my new body as much in a swim gear or with out clothes. I am working on manifesting a way to pay for plastics.  I also need dental implants (not related to RNY) .....the whole thing is very overwhelming.
ok, that's it for now.
For anyone out there struggling with this whole wls process......just go one step at a time, there is a rainbow on the other side.
Peace, love and blessings
