July 2007, Movie theater...did not fit in the seat UG! Made the decision to look into Lap Band or RNY that day.
08/14/07 First seminar, Akron City Hospital with Dr. Z (he calls himself) presented. He refused to answer any questions about cost even for folks who were interested in private pay.
08/16/08 Seceond seminar, St. Vicent Charity Hospital, WOW what a difference. The nurse spoke first then the social worker. Thorough and frank about the clinical aspect, emotion, insurance, support et al. Comfortable choosing them...YES! Decided RNY.
08/17/08 Met with my PCP to start my six month phyician monitored weight loss for my insurance. Wt. 262#, BMI 49. He put me on 1500 calories and told me to walk. He was not supportive of me having this surgery as he stated "you lost weight in the past you can do it again" He failed to remember I had lost 85# but gained 112# back. Mentioned WLS to my folks...focused on a cousin who had failed stapleing in the 80's and was huge. Not going to be supportive.

10/10/07 first support group visit at St. V's
10/19/07 PCP 255# scolds me. 10/19/07 results of MMPI=Normal with male type stress.
11/14/07 second support group visit at St. V's
11/16/07 PCP 254# scolds me again.
12/12/07 third support group visit at St. V's
12/14/07 PCP 248#. He is soooo disinterested in me.
01/11/08 PCP 252#. 01/11/08 met with surgeon Dr. Ben Meir. Must complete sleep study and upper GI.
01/17/08 Sleep study....Moderate apnea. Stopped breathing 22 times an hour.
01/24/08 C-pap titration... Terrible experience...apparently I'm closterphobic who knew? Tried four differed mask/nose thingys before she decided to try Bi-pap. Did better but by 2AM she said it's over and took everything off me and just let me sleep the rest of the night there.
01/25/08 Upper GI...Reflux and Sliding Hiatal Hernia
01/28/08 Visit gyno to discuss hormone free birth and period control. Decided to do an endometrial oblation about six weeks after RNY.
02/08/08 PCP 247# Yippee!!!! the last of the required six visits. Tired of being scolded.
02/08/08 Met with Dr. Lo pulmonologist....said my panic attack with C-pap was irrational fear and put me on a desensitization program. Upset they are using a DME and a respiratory therapist out of town. There are a lot in this town. What's up with that.
02/13/08 Phone call from St. V's Got all info and will submit this afternoon or tomorrow morning to insurance for RNY.
02/15/08 Respiratory therapist Louisa and a trainee visited from 11:05 A.M. to 12:10 P.M. Personality of a shoe. Wonder how much she got paid to drive from Cleveland to teach me how to turn on a switch?
