Hernia Repair post gastric sleeve

Apr 24, 2018

could a large hiatal hernia after gastric sleeve and a development of a “pouch” on the left side of my sleeve be the reason for slow weightloss and early stall. Hernia and pouch were detected by my bariatric surgeon a year post op after herd and some abdominal pain by doing a barium swallow and upper endoscopy. I haven’t gained any weight back but I didn’t lose as much as I would have liked. I’m aboit 15-20 lbs from goal. Has anyone else had a situation like this? Wondering if I’ll lose any weight after hiatal hernia and “pouch” is removed or whether I should have my sleeve tightened or re-sleeved while my surgeon is correcting the hernia and pouch to help with the weight loss...Help or advice

Re-sleeve?

Apr 24, 2018

Hello everyone. I was wondering if anyone can tell me their experience in being re-sleeved. I had VSG 2 years ago and although I haven’t gained any weight back I’m about 20 lbs from my goal and 30 from my Drs. Recently I went back to Bariatric surgeon due to pain and after a barium swallow and endoscopy I was told I have a large hiatal hernia and a “pouch” has developed on my sleeve. While talking with my Dr about hernia repair he brought up the option to re-sleeve while he did the hernia repair, since I didn’t lose the weight I’d hoped to have lost. I’m debating wh it’s worth having done. Has anyone re-sleeves with weight loss? Or could the hiatal hernia and out pouch development have anything to do with my weight stalling so early into my 1st VSG journey?
