I am being thrown into the wild and wooly world of RNY surgery due to a couple of medical conditions.  I have a mixed type hiatal hernia and severe GERD.  My surgeon is concerned that fixing the hernia will not do enough to correct the GERD, and I really want off those meds.  I have already had a couple of bone breaks I believe are related to the acid reducers and I don't want to develop dementia or kidney problems, either.  I'd also like to unload my BP med.  It's chlorthalidone and it's messing with my blood sugars and insulin levels.  I'm not quite diabetic and I'd like to keep it that way.

I had a VBG procedure back in 2003.  Unfortunately, I got pregnant the next year and gained quite a bit back.  The VBG is complicating the hernia situation.  I'm still down 50 from my highest, but would like to lose another 75 pounds at a minimum.
