Pre Op Visit

Sep 14, 2018

Well, today I had my pre-op visit with my surgeon and did the pre-op orientation. It is really sinking in now. Tomorrow is my first full day of all liquid. I have my support team in place and been reading the post on this site and feel like I have a good idea of what to expect and what I need to do to be successful.

One thing I am noticing that before and after requirements are different depending on your surgeon. I spoke with someone and they stated that they did not have to do the pre-liquid diet and they did not have a JP Drainage bulb but my surgeon is requiring it do allow me to lose more weight and strink my liver. I wonder why there are so many different requirements based on the practice and wonder which is the best practice? I am going to do as my doctor and team has advised me and will not differ from their instructions.

15 Days Before VSG

Sep 12, 2018

Well I am so ready for this to be over because this liquid diet thing is for the birds. Literally. Last Thursday was my last day of having coffee and creamer () then Monday I started to subsitute the protein shakes for breakfast. Today I subsituted breakfast and lunch. After my pre-op visit on Friday it will be straight liquid from here out. I was so not looking forward to the pureed food but now I am so looking forward to have anything resembling food. You get a pureed meal, you get a pureed meal, and I get a pureed meal (yummmmm)!

Last Friday was very rough and I did not thing I was going to make it through the day without getting some good ol' java in my bloodstream but today I am feeling a little more energized. I am going to use the Bariatic Fusion protein drinks and I just received the savory favors today - Tomatoe Soup and Chicken Noodle Soup - turn on the disco lights and let's party.

To be continued tomorrow........
