Sooner-Jim
I'm a father of five wonderful children and a husband to a loving wife of going on 18 years. I have battled with my weight all of my life. During my late teens and early twenty's, I was very active and did seem to lose weight and was very comfortable with myself. I got married and while my wife was pregnant with our first child she liked to eat and I ate with her (I didn't want her to eat alone). Well the baby came and she lost her weight and I didn't. Well then comes round two, three, four and finally five to make a long story short. I started my journey with WLS six months ago today (11-6-08) with my my weight at 417 lbs. I would have never of dreamed I would be this big. I have high been diagnosed having high blood pressure and probably a lot more problems, I just do not like to go to the doctor. I'm currently as of today at 395lbs. I look forward to losing a lot more. My wife and kids have always been able to enjoy our four horses going on trail rides and other riding events. I have always wanted to participate but never have been able to because of my weight (I would never put a horse through that, no matter how big the horse was). I'm going to have this surgery for a lot of reasons, mainly my health but I have missed out on doing a lot of activities with my children over the years because I was so big. My family is planning a trial ride the first of April and my goal is to be small enough to be able to go with them and ride, not just go and watch.
