Paul Cirangle

" I was very impressed with Dr Cirangle and was pleased that he didn't find my extensive research beforehand to be threatening. I like to be an informed patient and I like a doctor to keep me in the loop and explain what is going on and why, and to involve me in the choices made about my treatment. I basically knew the answers to all the usual questions so I told him what I already knew and let him fill in the blanks. He especially wanted to make sure that I was aware of the risks involved and went through his "standard speech" on the subject even though I already knew. I went over my medical and diet history with him (I had spent part of the preceeding weekend remembering dates and facts and writing them down in my Palm to be prepared. I understand that Dr. Cirangle is new in private practice and so he is not as busy as the other two Bariatric surgeons here on Oahu, which I expect will change as word gets around so I consider myself fortunate to have decided to have it done when I did. The only down side to this is that he doesn't seem as informed about common insurance carriers yet as some doctors are, but his office staff is. We also discussed an alternative to the Roux-en-y called (I think) Duodenal Switch which he has recently qualified to perform. I am still deciding on which one, though as I am right on the borderline, indication-wise with a BMI of 51. His office staff was very helpful and courteous. Overall I would rate him very well. Perhaps I will have something less glowing to say with time, but for now I like him a lot. Oh, and he said he thought it was very important that I talk to someone who had a bad surgical experience, to get a balanced view."

"It felt almost like a hotel- private rooms, very good service, modern and clean, and still nice enough to feel homey."
