Hi Joann, Welcome to the losing side. Sorry to hear about all the problems you had during surgery. I wish you much luck and happiness with everything. Best wishes to you.

Surgery was completed successfully despite respiratory distress caused by an antibiotic that causes cross-reactions in penicillin-sensitive patients. Thank God that the anesthesiology nurse noticed and stopped the IV right away and got the antibiotic changed. It caused me to spend 12 hours in recovery after my surgery took only 3 hours. Dr. Ali said I was a "poster child" for WLS and that my surgery and recovery were going amazingly well, despite the respiratory problems. I was discharged on Thursday morning - 3 days post op. I'm up and around, but still pretty sore. My incisions are all healing nicely and my first follow-up is 10/18/02. Thank you to all who posted encouraging words to my surgery page! I'm excited to be on the losing side!

Hi JoAnn: Surprising we are both scheduled for surgery the same day. I am alittle nervous but very excited. My daughter and I are doing this on the buddy system, same day! I wish you God's speedy recovery and that your surgeon is blessed with steady hands.
