I am also scheduled to have the surgery. I considered both surgeries and the Lap Ban is the one for me. My insurance plan covered the procedure which has been approved as of Oct 02 so you might want to check with your insurance company one last time to be sure. I hope all is going well with your choice. How are the people you know who have had the Lap Ban doing? I would be interested in know how much they have lost and how they are doing with the hunger pains (if any) Thanks Deborah

11/24/02 I've been researching the different types of WLS---and can't seem to decide between the RNY and Lap Band. All I do know is that I NEED to do something. My HMO insurance won't cover this....and I'm really considering traveling to Mexico due to the cost differential---but, goosey about the what if's of having surgery in a foreign country. Am going to attend an information/support group meeting in Cleveland on Tuesday evening. Am taking hubby with----really wish he would consider doing this, too.
