John Wright, Jr.

"2/9/2000 - I have an appointment with Dr. Wright on 3 March. His office has been super. Lisa has been helpful. 3/3/00 - I met with Dr. Wright and his associate Dr. Boles today. Dr. Wright was very thorough and did not rush me. He was already very familar with my history although we had never met or spoke prior to today. It's obvious he does his homework prior to meeting with you. He asks in-depth questions about any potential health problems you've experienced. At first he was all business but warmed up to me and my companions (I took my daughter and good friend with me) and was very engaging and friendly. My support group were accepted without question. My first meeting was on time and lengthy, about 1 1/2 hours. At the end he told me that he would submit the request for surgery to my insurance companies and have his office call me to schedule me for surgery WHEN I got my approval (A positive thinker! He didn't say IF). Strong emphasis on aftercare. Thorough explanation of the procedure risks and complications. Was not offended when I told him I had reviewed his curriculum vita on Vanderbilt's website - in fact, was pleased I had checked him out. Expectes you attend at least one support group at Vanderbilt on Friday's. There too much to write today - will update after I see him again. 4/18/00 Dr. Wright does good work. He was there when I woke up in recovery and came each day, late afternoon, with his staff. Not a man of many words but his actions speak volumes. My stitches are nice, tight and uniform. No nausea or vomiting. No blood or gas pain...If you want good results Dr. Wright is your man. Also appreciated the fact that all his bariatric patients go to the same ward. He's selective so there is little problem with overbooking that has resulted in so many others winding up in maternity, having to stay in ICU, etc."
