06-16-02 Time for an undate and here goes. I am loosing rapidly and have hanging skin. Can deal with that though. I am pleased at my progress although I do have a lot of difficulties with eating. No pasta, bread, noodles and I chew forever. Oh well. I would be really happy just to know what to eat. I will eventually figure it out, but the guessing game sure gets old. I can have ice cream and gravy along with soups and this is what I have been living on. I am pleased that I am feeling better now and looking forward to my knees to stop hurting so much. It has started feeling better, but I have a ways to go. I had to have some female surgery about 3 weeks after my gastroplasty so it has slowed me down on my exercising, but that will come also. I love the thought of having the surgery over with and knowing that is behind me. It was not a good experience, but now nearly 2 1/2 months post-op I am glad that I did it. I had a negative attitude due to the experiences at the hospital with the staff and now getting the correct care. I will never return there, but I am realllyyyy, glad that I did it. My scar is a minimal scar and that pleases me well. The doctor is very good with his surgery scars and I have had no real problems with that. Just stay away from anything to sugary as I have food even kool-aid with nutra-sweet is too much. I haven't had a soda in these 10 weeks and do not miss them. I have replaced them with juicy juices and they are all natural. Good exchange. I well any questions but put in the subject line that it is with WLS or gastric surgery or I may not open them. AGAIN, I have nearly lost 100 pounds and have plenty to go. Very pleased....very pleased indeed.

04-15-02 Well I have finally managed to get my head back where it originated from. I have to admit it has been difficult to deal with, I not really knowing how I would feel. Although, I believe that if a person really needs the assistance with weight loss this is a strong consideration. The discomfort from the hospital mishaps that "never happened" and the removal of myself from different medications did not help. My negative outlook has improved slightly and I guess if people had really mentioned the horrific pain I would endure instead of always being a cheerleader I could have been a little more prepared for this. A new employee where I am employed had the surgery and I thought she was a little to negative for me...at first. She was the only person who told me there would be a lot of pain and that I would curse having the surgery at first. She was right. If it hadn't been complicated by the "other" things it might have been alot more tolerable than it was. I am five days out now and found that 2 oz of food stretch further if you just dip a spoon in the "watery substance" allotted for food and then just lick the flavor off the spoon. It gives you a sense of having used the eating motion more. By the way, I have sipped till I have become a bloated cow from the gas. Any one have any suggestions? I will update slowly as I gain confidence. Just stay away from Bellaire hospital in Houston Texas.

I know (this being delivered from the people NOT having this surgery) I will survive. I am in so much pain and have bruises that measure from 10 1/2 by 6 inches on my forarm. And lets not forget the messed up left hip from god only knows what happened. Other than these few things mentioned I could handle the pain with the liquid tylenol that the doc PRESCRIBED. I had decent enough assistance from the hospital staff although I do have to mention they were in worse shape than me. I had these contraptions on my legs to help with circulation the help couldn't bend down to remove them so I could go to the bathroom. All in all I am glad it is over and I am finished with the waiting. Now it is time to heal. I am not going to be a any more negative than now so will not re enter any more information till then.
