NEEDS MORE SUPPORT FOR HER SURGERY 1/28 LORD BLESS

kimberley B. 21 years, 4 months ago

Rosalie, HUMMM why are you having fears?? Because you know what is IMPORTANT in your life and you don't want to be there to miss out on your children growing up or being with your spouse. Having any major surgery is very scary and NORMAL. One item that might help put surgery into perspective is to think of what health issues that you currently have and think of where you will be without surgery. Will you have the ability to enjoy time with your children and your husband? Do you have the energy to be the best that you can be for yourself and for them? Are you ready to change all of that...take a risk....have surgery and increase your quality of life with your family. You are the only person that can decide if surgery is right for you. Following your heart is usually the best thing to do. Pray or meditate to whatever you believe in and see if your fears begin to subside and calm down some. Wishing you all the best in your decisions. KimmieTN

Hi Rosalie---I had open RNY on December 18th and am here to tell you that I was scared to death for about 2 weeks prior to the surgery. What helped me through that time was "taking time out for myself"--time alone to think it through. I also made a list of all of the reasons I needed to have this done---seeing that in writing really helped. I spent HOURS on this website looking at before and after pictures and reading the miraculous stories of people's lives being changed. Yes, there is a risk to this surgery, but there are more risks to remaining overweight. And this takes a toll on our families too. From what I've read, everyone goes through a period of absolute panic near their surgery dates. This will pass and you will become at peace with your decision. Hang in there kiddo! We'll all be pulling for you!

Rosalie- Surgery was given to us to use as a tool to lose this added weight. I myself, think it is a gift from God to all of us needing that extra help in leading a normal life. Being overweight is such a struggle, I've been struggling for over 30 years. My surgery is March 21. I've gotten the jitters but I know people who have had this surgery and their testamonies are the best argument for this surgery. Have your doctor's office get you in touch with someone who has successfully loss weight. Talk with them, tell them your fears. They can genuinely help. And don't forget to pray about this journey. It's a great stress reliever. God knows your concerns...you'll get your answer! That's where I got mine! ~Dawn~

Rosalie - I think everyone has days prior to surgery when they are afraid or having second thoughts. This is a major step and any surgery can be scarey. I have a 9 year old son and my biggest concern about the surgery is how it will affect him if something should happen to me. But, I also know that I need the surgery to be the kind of mother to him that I want to be and that he deserves. There are risks to anything in life. Face one day at a time and trust in the knowledge of why you are doing this. Sending lots of support and positive wishes your way.

Rosalie...hang in there. My children are 7 & 11 and the hardest thing I ever did was tell them that I was having the surgery. I had an Open RNY on Dec 19th. The kids came in to see me a couple of days later and they could see for themselves that mom was okay. They couldn't hug me too tightly due to all the tubes and staples and such. My fiancee' has been so supportive. He has been with me every step of the way. God Bless!

Rosalie...I think being nervous is to be expected ( I haven't had surgery yet), you are by the way having major surgery. There are the possibility of complications, but if you lok at the status of your health now, it can only get worse. Post every day if you need to to get support. Let us know what happens. mari Seattle
