John Alexander

"When I first met Dr. Alexander, I was very impressed with his professionalism and sincere desire to assist obese individuals in their journey. My impression of him only got better in the following months. He is a very dedicated, skilled surgeon who is not in it for the money only. He was very patient with me and answered all of my questions. His staff, at the time (almost 2 years ago) left something to be desired. His dietician was very lacking in substantial assistance. I do not know if she is still there as I have heard that he has hired someone new. His nurses were wonderful and was his receptionist! His insurance staff were not as helpful as I believe they should have been and made numerous mistakes along the way in my case. Again, I do not know if the staff is still the same. I am completely satisfied with Dr. Alexander and if I had to be pinned down to what I liked least about him would be one of the same things I liked most about him! He takes his time with each and every patient and helps them to make sure this is the proper step for them. In doing so, his schedule was always about two hours behind! Future patients should know that he is an outstanding surgeon and has pulled individuals through difficult situations that were beyond his control. At the time of my surgery on July 12, 2002, Dr. Alexander had had NO deaths related to this surgery!!!!! Again, at the time, his aftercare was essentially left up to the patient. This has changed and he now has a support group that meets once a month at RHD hospital. Dr. Alexander fully explained to me the potential risks of the surgery and did not sugarcoat anything. At the same time, he also discussed other alternatives to the surgery along with the risks of being obese. I loved Dr. Alexander and would choose him again in a minute! In fact, I had visited several differenct surgeons before I decided on Dr. Alexander. Once I had met him, I knew he was the one who I would have do my surgery...even if my insurance did not cover the procedure! It was Dr. Alexander the whole way. For me, surgical competence and bedside manner should go hand-in-hand. In my opinion, a competent surgeon also has to have a good bedside manner or the patient will not feel confident and secure. Dr. Alexander has both! Sorry, but other then the awful wait in his waiting room, I have found no fault with Dr. Alexander himself."

"While I do not fit in this category, this is the plastic surgeon that the well-to-do in Fort Worth go to for reconstruction and other plastic surgery."
