"I had open rny 5/11/02. Surgery went well. Pain level after was excruciating. I was awake for 36 hours with no sleep. Eventually meds. were changed to something stronger and I was able to sleep. Even with the pain I still did my walking. My surgeons bedside manner is great. I dont blame him for what went wrong with me. I would still recommend him to anyone. He is a very caring surgeon. Following surgery I had to have 3 additional open surgeries. One for abdominal abcess, and two more surgeries for hernia's and for mesh to be inserted into my abdomen. My weight loss has been very very slow due to the numerous surgeries I had to have. I am very dissappointed in the results of my surgery and because of all the additional open surgeries I had to have my abdominal skin hangs so horribly. I have to wear my clothes 2 sizes larger than I need to just to allow for the excess skin. Otherwise it pinches and gets caught in my zippers. I can also feel my organs through my abdomen when Im lying down because there is not enough skin there to hold my intestines in properly. Im suffering from severe depression and wonder everyday was it worth it. My husband wishes I had never done it. My energy level is very low now and my self esteem level is much lower than it used to be. Of course a surgeon is your own personal choice I will not say anything to change your mind about a surgeon. It is strictly your personal choice. I wish you all the luck in the world. My surgeon did the best he could. He answered all my questions to the best of his ability. Im just one of those weird cases. "I would recommend this hospital to anyone needing surgery. The staff is great. The doctors and surgeons are fantastic. The hospital is accomodating and works with you on a payment plan for anything that your insurance doesnt cover. That is a big plus for me. I would use them again any time. "
