Hi Everyone Thanks for for your well wishes and prayers, I made it. I want to thank Libby for being my wonderful angel. We have become good friends by being each others angels. That alone is a tremendous gift. During my hospital stay my pain level began to increase dramatically once my IV was removed. During my release instructions the PA Told me that some patients missed the anti inflamatories more than the morphine, I did not think much about it at the time. After arriving home and the pain continuing to mount even with the liquid pain medicine I reread my discharge instructions. It said I could use advil for 2 days if needed. Now mind you before my pain measured around a 2 and now it was between 7 & 8. I tried taking 2 advils. Within and hour my pain level was on its way back down. I've been able to manage the pain quite nicely now with the addition of advil. I looks like today I may be able to even stop the advil. I had never read this befor on the message board so wanted to make everyone aware, that is just having this surgery in case it would help. Well I am very tired and going to take a nap. I will write more later. Thanks again all and especially Libby. Peggy Douglas

Angel Update from Libby: I just talked to Peggy who came home yesterday from the hospital. She sounds really good. She says her pain was elevated and remembered that the discharge nurse told her that if the pain meds didn't seem to help, maybe it was the swelling in her belly and that to take Advil for a couple of days would be ok. She says that helps immensely and so she is working on using it but not overdoing it. She's hoping that by the weekend she will not need to use the Advil anymore. I think coming home on the third day after open RNY is amazing! I will keep in touch with Peggy and she hopes to be online in the next few days.---Libby

Angel Report: Just talked to Peggy and she sounds better today. She has been walking every 2 hours, sleeping a lot and drinking broth and crystal light. She is scheduled to go home tomorrow afternoon or early evening. She said the pain was bothering her this morning but then they discovered that her IV had come undone, so pain meds weren't being delivered! Now she is on oral pain meds with the morphine backup pump and feels much better! Hurray! She sounds like she is in good spirits and I told her I would call her at home on Thursday.---Libby

Angel Update from Libby about Peggy's surgery this morning: I just talked to Peggy on the phone. She sounds fine but a bit groggy from the anesthetic and pain meds. She was in surgery about 1 1/2 hours and is now in her room. Her daughter and husband are with her. She said the ice chips tasted good that they gave her and she is scheduled to get up to walk around 5:00 PDT. Will keep you posted on her progress in the next couple of days. Any more messages would be appreciated and I am going to try to fax them to the hospital in the morning. Way to go, Peggy!!---Libby
