Richard Thirlby

"Dr. Thirlby is a very caring man, my first impression was that he knew what he was talking about and truly cared what happens with his patiences. His office staff is friendly and know there jobs very well. When I have had to call about something things have been taken care of very fast. If I have to pick some thing I like least about him it would be that I had to wait 4 months for my surgery after approvel...but I dont hold that against him! He make it clear that this is a life changing surgery and that there would be aftercare. that things would have to chang, like the things I ate...the exercise level. He told me there were risks to this surgery and that any surgery has it's share of risks. He told me that they would take extra care with me becasue of my history of blood clots. my overall rating of Dr. Thirlby would be a 9 out of 10. I think his surgical competence is better then his bedside manners, since I dont remember seeing him at my bedside. His resadent did check in on me at least 2 times a day after surgery. I did have a problem with one of the resadents removing half of my staples 6 days post op...My body was rejecting the stapels and I had puss coming out at the entery point of each staple, when I went into the office she assumed that I had an infection inside the instion and opened me up in the office. that ended up taking an extra 5 weeks to heal."
