North Florida Regional Medical Center

"They are building on a new wing, but 'til that's done, there is a bed shortage problem. I was supposed to go to Progressive Care or, if no beds there, ICU (because I weighed in over 300 lbs). Neither happened. They had empty beds when I had the surgery but none anywhere when I should have left recovery. I ended up in RR until late the next afternoon and they still had no beds. Because fresh post-ops were coming in and my fam could no longer visit me there, they put me in the pre-op section for several hours and then on to a private room. They seemed understaffed on the floor...it took awhile for them to answer the bell and then it took awhile to get the help needed."

Karen Larkey

"Dr. Larkey did a personality profile and then asked specific questions about my expectations and how I would handle changes. Her rating is also an 11 out of 1-10."

Eric Thoburn

"Dr. Thoburn has developed a very thorough Power Point presentation that will save them, as well as patients, quite a bit of time. It took care of many questions I had even before we met one-on-one. My impression of hima nd his staff so far is that they are very professional, capable and caring. I do love the program they've set up that really helps you adjust your thinking about food and how you'll handle things. I can't wait to get started on that. It'll be a little tough getting there for a support group (I'm 2 hours away), but I WILL do it. This is a drastic decision that will alter my whole life for the better, so I'm not going to play any wimp-out games on anything. Not only do they address the risks but also are very thorough in their pre-testing to minimize risks as much as possible. Overall, I'd give them an 11 out of 1-10."
