USC University Hospital

"Overall, I would say it was a decent hospital. Pre op and post op care, physician's and lab type personnel was great.....Nurses were at the bottom of the barrell."

"As I expected, he was running almost two hours behind schedule, but I came prepared with lots of books. Fortunately, I had done significant research before I met with him, so my questions were minimal. Dr. K. is passionate about what he does, and an excellent bedside manner. What I liked least is really not directly about the Doctor. He is not staffed at a level to meet his patient load/professional committments, and although my contact with his staff has been minimal to date, i am told to be prepared to be pushy, and not to be intiminated. My sleeves are up and I'm ready. We did not discuss much about aftercare. I will have a list to discuss with him before I am released from the hospital. Because of the distance to him from where I live/work, I am hoping that after my initial follow up visit (post op) he will let my PCP monitor my post op. So far, everything I know about him as a surgeon and a healthcare profesional leads me to believe he is a 10 on the list! I have switched surgeons and have moved to an open RNY. I am much happier with the surgeon and his staff. I also am pleased that my gall bladder is being removed, so it is one more potential complication I won't have to worrry about. The primary reason that I switched was that I was completely dissatisfied with Dr. Katkhouda's staff, and have learned that his post op treatment is sorely lacking. I wanted a surgeon who is in with me for the long haul, not a one time visit, surgery, and one time follow up!"
