Debbie, Welcome home! I am glad you made it to the losing side with realitively little problems. Keep in mind it will still take probaby 2-3 more weeks before you are really feeling back to normal! Meantime, rest and get used to your new tummy. Peace and God Bless Tami

August 26,2002(I'm posting this late because of a computer glitch, but I want it here so I can look back later.) Today is the big day. After all the waiting it finally rushed up on me. Just last night I told my best friend about the surgery. She knew I was having my gall-bladder removed but not the GB. I was embarassed about it and afraid she'd try to talk me out of it. On the contrary! But of course she is an absolutely beautiful person and immediately jumped on my band wagon and started asking for info and giving me support and love. Her only complaint of course was that I hadn't told her. Thank you Carrie-Love you. So today My husband Scott an son Daid droveme to Great Falls. I checked in to pre-op andguess what? The Admit nurse had had the same surgery by the same surgeon a year before. She looked great and showed us her old picture. My husband was thrilld to finally have a real person to ask questions. He was so much more relieved. Scott has a a realfear of me having surgery becasue his mother was slaughtered by an couple of idiot surgeons a few years ago. ************************************************ THE OTHER SIDE I came out of surgery not feeling too bad. The recovery and surgical floor staff were great. I am an RN myself so I could tell when the care was correct. My room was a constant round of wonderful friends justbeing there. I am loved!! 08-27-02 Barium swallow time: Don't let anyone tell you this is not the MOST disgusting thing. CRUEL!! I got back to my room and was soon started on water. However, my body wasn't ready yet. 08-29-02 I have been plagued by horrendous GAS! My belly looks like I am 9 months pregnant and hard and it HURTS. Walk, walk, walk,walk,walk...poof-pass atiny bit of gas, walk, walk, walk, walk...etc. I was supposed to get out today but no way. 08-30-02 Finally today I can tolerate my clear liquids whick I get to continue until I see Dr. Rohrer next week. I'm sore, the JP pinches and finally the excess fluid is coming off my belly and legs. This means I run to the bathroom every 1-2 hours and them barely make it. My sister-in-law was a doll to let me crash at her house for a day before having to drive home 180 miles. God Bless you Danette and family!! 08-31-02 The drive home wasnot bad. It is so good to be home!! I slept in a bed for the first time for part of the night. Even in the hospital I slept in a recliner. Only one word to describe me: Crabby. I started my period on top of everything else. 09-01-02 A new month and a new me. Our friends had us over for dinner. Melanie, my friend that is a gourmet cook made dinner for Scott and David and the most lucious chicken broth for me. This is the first time that cooking smells aren't making me nauseous. After dinner Melanie took a walk about 1/4 mile and I did well. I cannot believe how weak I feel. 09-02-02 My best buddy Carrie came up and cleaned my bathroom. What a great person and great friend. 09-03-02 David started school today and I did some things around the house. I can cook and do laundry in a modified manner.

Debbie, not sure if you are still ckg your answer to your meds question, put, I thought you'd definitly see it this way...I hate pills, cannot take them. Once had an ice cube stuck in my throat, had to drink hot water to dissolve. Ask your dtr for liquid meds. I had surgery on 8-15 and am on liquids. They are nasty tasting, but, if you take a quick drink, ALL GONE! Good Luck.
