UMass Memorial

"Excellent people, friendly, courteous, attentive and considerate. I was on 3 South post-op. The nurses were good, but the PCAs were excellent!! They were so helpful. As a nurse, I know how difficult, physically, it can be to help obese patients, they never seemed frustrated, and were very appropriate and smiled all the time. I would like to caution patients about the surgical residents. They come REALLY early in the AM, all stand around your bed and treat you like a "case" not a patient. But this is true of any teaching hospital and not a reflection of the rest of the care I recieved. "

John Kelly

"I can't say too much about Dr. Kelly, I only met him for a few minutes. His Nurse Practitioner spent most of the time with me explaining the surgery and answering my questions. Dr. Kelly came in at the end and introduced himself and we chatted briefly. Overall, despite the extensive amount of time I have waited (it will be 11 months by the time I have surgery) I am pleased with the services provided by the bariatric surgery team with exception of my behavioral consultant who should have sent my stuff in october, but waited until january!!! I am pleased with the amount of preparation that I have been required to do because it forces you to realize the significance of what you are doing and gives you time to really ponder the consequences. Even so, I would have rather done this 11 months ago."
