"I met with Dr. Ninh Nguyen on 01/17/01 for the first time and I felt he was very professional. He placed my mind at ease and was willing to answer all my questions. The appointment initially started out with the nurse asking me about my history, explaining WLS and asking me if I had any questions. She did a short exam and was told that the surgeon would be in a little while to discuss the risks associated with WLS. The doctor recommended this time between appointments to discuss the risks associated with WLS with my family and friends and use the internet as a learning tool. Find out as much information as possible and come back on 2/21/01 with a decision and an understanding of whats to come. This doctor has a wonderful understanding of the surgery and how is it good for. I do think that surgical competence is by ar the most important...but I will tell you that in my eyes if the doctor is a jerk and has zero people skills then I would probably not feel comfortable with him operating on me.. I want to be able to developa rapport with the person who is about to become an intergral part of my care....before, during, and after the surgery. Dr. Nguyen was very straightforward with the risks associated with surgery but he also had a great sense of humor and a way of making me feel very comfortable...(not like being on the defensive side like I know we all have been in the past with various doctors).

Well since I have not qualified for the study I will be having my surgery performed by Dr. Goldman...I have yet to meet him but hope only that he is a competent surgeon..(any one with experience with Dr. Goldman want to share you can email me) will post when I have more to share.. :)"
