Bob, You look GREAT!! Way to go! Good interview this AM -- too bad it was so short.
A whole BLT? I don't think I'd WANT to push it that far! But hey, who am I to argue with success.
In retrospect, do you think you might have had fewer complications if the surgery had been open rather than Lap? Certainly would have kept the table time down. My surgery will be open RNY and the table time is anticipated at around 2 hrs.
Doug

Bob, I'm looking forward to catching the program on MSNBC tomorrow AM. I'm definitely taping it!
I'm so glad there is a program focusing on a man having the surgery. So much of the coverage has been about women, and, let's face it, I would guess that the world of WLS is skewed toward women about 80/20 or more. So it's refreshing to see that they're covering your case. As for me, I'm having open RNY on 8/16. I'm looking forward to it, but a tad apprehensive as well. I have little fear of dying on the table -- my surgeons are excellent, and TEACH other surgeons how to do the procedure -- but my concerns are things like waking up still intubated, the NG tube, the foley, the general pain and discomfort of the first few days post-op, and the possibility of post-op complications.
Keep me in your prayers!
Doug

Bob, Will try to catch the show tomorrow...how exciting. Hope they portray you better than TLC did Christine. Like Fay said on the message board..."normal people don't make good TV." Enjoy...your our mouth piece. (I received a diary from Oprah...not that thrilled about it!)

Good luck on your on-air interview tommorow Bob. Your courage to show this procedure from beginning to end is inspiring to many. I have taped the show and used it as an education tool for my family members that are unsure about the surgery, I feel like I know you from watching the show so many times. I hope you are doing good and melting nicely *smile*. My day is coming 8-15-01 Lap RNY.

Hi Bob...I have to say, I watched the MSNBC show many times in the weeks leading up to my open RNY on May 14, 2001. How brave you are! I have a degree of celebrity as well, albeit, on a much smaller scale...I posted a message saying that my WLS was the same day as my 30th birthday. I was flooded with messages and support. I tease my family and tell them that in WLS circles, only Roseanne Barr, Carnie Wilson and Bob Goldstein are more famous than me! Glad to see you are in the 30's for BMI. I'm down to 278 from 314. I'm at a 43 from a 49. Only 22 more pounds and at 255 I will out of the dreaded "morbidly obese" range. Also, I'm only 97 pounds away from the high end of my goal range of 165-180. Yippie! Stay in touch, Bob, and let's see some pictures. Until then, Greetings from the Jersey side of the George Washington Bridge!
