"I am choosing Dr. Trotter because he has done a number of sucessful rny's, is very thorough about testing pre-op to be sure we are healthy, and because he has a very tight follow-up. He is very clear about post op nutrition requirements. He requires psych testing, nutrition class, and recommends the monthly support group. The patients I have spoken to who have had surgery with him are happy with it and had quick recoveries. Although I will be having open RNY to allow for some hernia repair, he also does lab rny's. Dr. gives a talk 2x/month about the surgery and addresses all risks, expected results, and answers questions.
Dr. Trotter's nurse, Dar, is very helpful and facilitates the monthly support group also. Both she and dr. have taken the time to learn alot about bariatric surgery.
I rate both Dar and Dr. high at this time...still pre-op.
I reate surgical competence highest.
