Hi Katherine, I just wanted to say hello and wish you well!! I had my surgery by Dr. Wheeler in August and it's been smooth sailing for me (most of the way!). I would do it over again in a heartbeat. I know you will do wonderful! Hugs, Helen

Best Wishes for a successful surgery and smooth recovery! Weigh to go! I just read another post from someone who just had surgery and the thing that hurts the most is their BACK. And it is PAINFUL, not just uncomfortable. THE LAST THING YOU NEED TO TELL YOUR SURGEON, BEFORE THEY PUT YOU UNDER, IS TO PUT SOMETHING UNDER YOUR KNEES TO TAKE THE PRESSURE OFF YOUR BACK!!! Time and time again folks are coming out of the O.R. and their back is killing them. It’s because you are lying flat on your back for hours on a hard surface. How long can you do that now? If the surgeon will just put a rolled up blanket under your knees this problem will be eliminated! Got It?... Good…. Problem solved. (Or at least talk it over with him/her).

Katherine ~ Sounds like it's been tough going. I really don't know about the 12 step thing. I have tried it and found that it wasn't for me. It's a very personel decision. It seems to me that you are taking care of yourself, i.e. seeking therapy, intending to go as long as you need to, etc. I might have to think about seeing someone else... maybe talk to someone in your surgeon's office if they can recomend anyone else. I didn't have to take any tests and I really enjoyed my session. Take care and let us know what you decide to do!

Katherine, HMMM? Going to far! Yes, I'd say that. It sounds like she did a VERY complete psych eval. I might be concerned about your dysthymia, but you are currently seeing a therapist and will continue to do so. We all use food as our "addiction" and for comfort. That's part of our disease. However, I believe there are some psychaiatrists and psychologists (therapists too) that believe that we need BEHAVIOR TRAINING instead of WLS. I, myself, tried OA and found it not for me. I'm not a 12 stepper. I needed to work on my denial and why and when I ate. Finding our what comfort the food was giving me and what I was denying was key to my process. Anyway, you may want to get another referral if you can afford it. Not many psychaiatrists specialize in WLS. Maybe your therapist can recommend one. I hope this helps!!

Katherine, it sounds like you had a pretty rough couple of days at the PYSCHO therapist's office. Doesn't sound like what happened to you has anyhting to do with wls. I hope the results come out in your favor. You poor thing. Let us know what happens.
