Congrats Audra! Glad to hear things went well. I'm anxious to hear how your experience was/is with Dr. Mitchell. Hopefully in a few weeks I too will be laying in a recovery bed at Forest Park Hospital. Take care and God bless!

Hi, Audra: I had my surgery at Southpointe Hospital in St. Louis on 1 Sep 00. Just Wanted to wish you the best of luck on your surgery. I know you will do well. It may not seem like it right now, but this is a decision you will be very happy you made for the rest of your life. Once you get thru these first couple of difficult weeks, it will be smooth sailing, and you will be on your way to a new, improved life - one that you can enjoy and do all the things you have been dreaming of. Again, best of luck, and congrats for being on "the other side". Hugs and kisses, pat

Dear Audra, I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea. The reason I think the doctor may want to postpone surgery is because when the anesthesialogist puts you asleep he/she needs to know whether or not you have sleep apnea. People who have sleep apnea usually having difficulty coming out of anesthesia. It may be a risky complication until you have been dianosed and have a small machine called a CPAP. It determines how much air pressure you need and should be applied when you come out of your surgery. The surgery can still be done with no problem after that. They recommend you actually take your own CPAP machine with you when you go into surgery. Ofcourse, this may all be a moot point because you may not have sleep apnea at all. Good-luck and God Bless. I am looking forward to having my surgery as soon as insurance approves. Say a little prayer. Julia
