Mt. Sinai Hospital (COE)

"Just make sure that you PARTICIPATE IN YOUR OWN CARE and go there ready for battle. It started in the recovery room where I had a nurse from HELL and people cussing and using foul language (yes, that's right--nurse and staff). IT was the MOST negative hospital experience I have ever had. Good thing I trusted and had COMPLETE confidence in my surgeon or else I think I would have lost it. I couldn't WAIT to get out of there. My girlfriend (who was my main support person) even said it was horribly negative. Some people just shouldn't work in an environment where they need to be sensitive and care for people. I hope I never have to go back there."

Theresa Quinn

" My impression of Dr. Quinn is that she's an incredibly intelligent, thorough, experienced surgeon. I really couldn't ask for anything more. She took probably over an hour to answer all my questions and never once made me feel like I was wasting her time. She mentioned that she has done (over 500, I believe) Lap RNY and as far as I'm concerned, that's probably the most important thing that she told me. I believe that experience is the most important thing when it comes to surgical procedures. Also, I liked the fact that she is not solely focused on bariatric surgery and is a general surgeon. Another thing--though there are many, many hoops I have to jump through to get my surgery date (I have to have an upper endoscopy, meet with nutritionists, a psych evaluation, a colonoscopy (my father just passed away due to colon cancer), an echocardiogram, and EKG, a renal clearance (I only have one kidney) and......I think that's it), I am reassured that she is very meticulous and thorough and would gladly comply with any of her recommendations. I guess, bottom line---I TRUST HER. I've had surgery before and believe me--money cannot buy TRUST. I'm very happy with my choice in Dr. Quinn. ****UNFORTUNATELY I have learned that Dr. Quinn is leaving Mt. Sinai as of mid-October. I'm not sure where she's going, but I chose to go ahead and have her perform the surgery, though I will be having my follow-up with her colleagues. "
