Hi kk: I am about 6 months out from open Rny and I found a few things very helpful. Baby spoons, forks and sipper cups. I also found that nonfat dry milk is a must for protien because it mixes easily. Carnatiion instant breakfast mixes well and is tasty.you cant eat but a med. cup at a time so dont need regular sized bowls or cups until about 3 months out or longer.I still find eating out of a saucer and a 1 cup bowl is the best and the smallest coffee cup. and a good sipper traveling cup for water and crystal light. crystal light is a must too. Make sure you have good warm loose fitting cloaths and blankets. a recliner or hospital bed is helpful for the first 3 months or so until your insision heals.I began at 453 lbs and it was very difficult to getting up from a chair or my bed.The hospital bed helps. At the hospital take some things you enjoy at home to focus on such as a sterio, and head phones and pictures of your kids or your significent other. I had to travel about 3 hours to the hospital and it was very hard for me. make sure if you are traveling a long distance take some one with you and get a private room for them to stay with you, it helps. At least have someone visit you while you are in the hospital. I guess this is all I can say. If you have any more questions please feel free to write me at [email protected]. Sheryl OPen RNY July 22, 2002 516/453/360/160
