"I knew a little about Dr. Barzune before meeting him so had an idea of what to expect. My mother and I attended his seminar in Dec. of 2001. He was very thorough in his discussion about the pros and cons of surgery. One of the things that was most motivating to me was that he had several of his clients there talking to us about their before and after weight loss. I knew at this meeting that I wanted Dr. Barzune to do my surgery. I had this much trust in him, just by attending this meeting. I loved the fact that he has a very structured after-care program. He has monthly support meetings and does bloodwork every 3 months to make sure everything is going well. I had my consultation Jan. 19th 2002 and began the preparation for my surgery. My first impressions of Dr. Barzune was that this is serious person, very knowledgeable and experienced in his field. He expects you to follow through with his instructions, to do it his way, not how you might hear others are doing it. His office staff is great, they are a very caring group of ladies. I was surprised at how small is office is, be prepaired to get there early if you want a place to sit. It usually is not too bad but there have been occasions where people were standing and sitting on the floor. I would rate Dr. Barzune a definite "10" and am so happy that he is the doctor to guide me from being super morbid obese to hopefully normal one day. Although, he does come across as a very serious person, he does have a great personality. I look forward to my monthly weigh-ins,even if I haven't lost what I should have.....why, because Dr. Barzune is there to give me encouragement or a little kick in the "....". I still need this type of support. He has never rushed me and has always taken time to visit with me, even though his office is sometimes filled. I don't feel as if I am just a number # of # people that he has to rush through his office that day. That's nice."
