"Dr Minasian is the Medical director for the Hurley Center for Comprehensive Weight Loss. He sees every WLS patient during the pre-op testing. He explains anything and everything that you want to know about the surgery and why it will benefit you based on your pre-op co-morbid symptoms and diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes. I found him very knowledgeable about the bariatric surgery. "
"My surgeon is Victor Sorensen, M.D. who is with the Hurley Center for Comprehensive Weight Loss in Flint, Michigan.
Dr. Sorensen was very nice and easy to talk with. He seemed very knowledgeable. He thoroughly explained the surgery and the risks and benefits of the surgery. The clinic was very well designed for us "larger sized people". The furniture was oversized and very comfortable. The Office staff was very pleasant. Dr. Sorensen is also a highly skilled trauma surgeon so I really believe that I am in very good hands. I have spoken with a recent RNY patient and she told me Dr. Sorensen was wonderful after the procedure. The Hurley Center for Comprehensive Weight Loss has an excellent program and a well structured follow up program with monthly meetings. You can call their office anytime and get answers to your questions. They have people involved with their program who have had the RNY and know what you can expect after surgery. The only drawback that I encountered was that the office staff did not tell me that I needed to get them copies of my medical records. They have an outside company that does their insurance prequalification so they don't do it here locally. I have been in contact with the insurance office a few times and they have been very helpful but I believe that I could have been approved much sooner had I been given a "checklist" of steps to take at the first consultation.
