"I had my surgery consult on Friday November 1, 2002. I was very impressed with Dr. McCaughan. He presented to 6-8 others interested in the surgery for 1-2 hours giving his background, history of the surgery, risks, and answered general questions and answers. Then everyone went to his office for private appointments. He seems extremely knowledgeable and commited to his work. He patiently answered questions and wasn't pushy at all. His Physician's Assistant Melissa is wonderful and so is Jean...who works hard to please everyone. They are in the midst of moving locations and I was unable to get a definite date for surgery but Jean was going to pursue insurance approval.
Dr. McCaughan's office had several patients in for their post check ups and the information obtained from talking to them was priceless...both positive and negative experiences.
I had my surgery with Dr. McCaughan on 11/25/02 with no complications. I am impressed with his expertise. I had expected to see him either before surgery in the OR or after surgery while I was still an inpatient, however there was a resident in to see me 2-3 times a day. He also has a Physician's Asst. but she was on vacation that week. Aftercare so far (3 weeks post) continues to be weekly visits. I believe his surgical competence is utmost and I've talked with patients of his who have had significant problems and they are all pleased with his care and communication. I believe he genuinely cares about his patients."
