Bridget, how kind of you to update us with your story. It is importand that this information be made available to people searching for answers. Sometimes folks have unrealistic expectations of the surgery. Your honesty is most welcome.

Hi, Bridget - I have not had surgery and I am hoping to avoid it. I have lost 75 pounds since March (385 to 310) and have a VERY long way to go. Still, I'm pleased, because winning this weight loss battle, surgery or no surgery, is just about freakin' impossible. ////I didn't get to weigh 385 pounds because my stomach was too big or my intestines too long - so why would shrinking my stomach or shortening my intestines solve my problem? That's what I don't understand about WLS. I got to 385 pounds by being an all-out, big-time emotional eater. Where are those feelings supposed to go after WLS? I am convinced that I would eat my way through or around any surgery they could give me. Unless it was brain surgery. ///Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and I thought your post was very brave, and I'm sure you're not the Lone Ranger. Good luck to you- Kim

It makes me very sad to see that you are not doing well. I see you had the VGB have you considered having it revised to RNY or DS and getting yourself into some counseling? I wish you all the best...

I am now 3+ years post op and have gained back up to my pre-surgery weight. I am working again to try and lose weight but I don't think it will be with surgery this time. My mom had surgery in March 2002 and is doing wonderfully but this was not the decision for me aparently. I like to eat - I love to eat... and not being able to eat much or eat my favorites made me very sad. I set out to stretch my pouch... just a little so I could eat more, and well, that was a bad decision to make aparently. I still cannot eat as much as I could pre-surgery but the weight came back.
