It's been a bit since I've updated. I am almost 6 months post op. I can't believe its been almost a 1/2 a year. Time flies. I now weight around 210lbs. Still haven't bought my first pair of shorts yet... not looking forward to that. The legs are less than desirable right now...lol Andrea

Its been awhile since I have written an update. I am down to about 222lbs. I have been on a plateau since the middle of Jan. It is kind of depressing, but then again its been over 6 years since I have been this since so I'm not that worried. Dr. Elariny has been great about it, I have to get more blood work done, and see him again for a 4 month check up (usually its just 3,6,9,12) but he cares and it shows. He has no doubt that it will break... and I dont' either, I just have to keep reminding myself of that.

I broke 250lbs! I am sooo psyched. I can't believe it. I got on the scale this morning and it read 248.. I had to get off and back on just to see if it was real! I can't remember the last time I was under 250lbs. Someone please pinch me!

Hi Andrea, Just read your update on your surgery.I too have to have a liver biopsy during my surgery because I have fatty diffuse liver also, and it is enlarged, my liver enzymes are high too. I hope this surgery corrects my problem .They are also looking for a condition called hemochromatosis, which is iron overload and it also involves the liver.I pray for a peedy ecovery and good labs results .Goodluck<3

My surgery was on November 7th. My surgery lasted about 4-5 hours. I had never had surgery before, nor stayed in the hospital and was very nervous about the whole process. I toured the hospital about a month before, but was still very nervous. I look back now, and I laugh because it seems like I had made such a big deal out of nothing. My surgery went well, I also had my appendix removed, and they also did 2 biopsies on my liver - they are doing a study at the hospital that I went to, to see if there is a correlation between obesity and non-alcoholic fatty livers. I was in recovery for 3 hours, and was finally sent to my room. My pump didn't work.. and all that day and night, I kept telling the nurse and she said that I just wasn't pushing the button enough... YEAH RIGHT. Well the next nurse I got the next day was wonderful. She realized the pump was broken, got a new one, and also got a shot of some medicine to help with the pain. She was wonderful. Dr. Elariny came in about 1 the day after surgery.. said I looked great.. checked me out, I asked if I could go home and he said "YES." That was the best news I had heard. The first few weeks were rough as I am a "do'er" and not being able to move and do as usually drove me nuts. But now, almost 6 weeks out I feel like I am just about to my old self. Minus 35 lbs. Now it is the search for some decent tasting protein!!!
