Mo, I read your post with interest. I was very much like you except heavier when I had my WLS on 12/3/01. Read my profile if you would like for the specifics. Once I knew that I wanted surgery I did everything in my power to get it done as quickly as possible. I was at the point where life needed to change postively and I did not want to wait another minute for it to happen. Good luck to you on this awesome journey. KimmieTN

I have been overweight since I came out of my mothers womb. I am 24 yrs old and weigh 320 pounds. Most of the women in my family are overweight, but not morbily obese like me. Two of my friends have had the surgery, and they told me not to listen to anyone who tells me not to get the surgery especially a skinny person. They said the benefits outweighs the risk. Even though I have a lot of friends and everyone I come across treats me normal and not like a fat person I still feel unhappy. I feel like I'm 35. I have a lot energy for me to be this overweight, but i tend to sleep a lot. When I was 18 I lost 75 pounds w/in a year i gained it all back. I have tried almost every diet known to man w/moderate success. The problem is not losing, but keeping it off. This is truly my last resort. My mom and aunts disagree w/this surgery, they don't understand why i would want it, they are about only 10 pound overweight. I come across outwardly as a very positive person and confident, which I am most of the time , but the inner me is just waiting to come out of this skin. I have kaiser for my insurance co. My doctor said that I will have to wait a year w/kaiser that sucks, because i had kaiser at my previous job, but they said they don't count that. So now I have to wait 2 1/2 months before my doctor will summit any paper work. My doctor said i'm a good candidate for this surgery. I already have take a blood test and a pregnancy test. I just want to know should I wait those 2 1/2 more months to take anymore test or should I have my doctor start having me to all those other test so I can get approved faster.
