Hi, Marla: I just wanted to wish you congratulations on your surgery date and wish you the best of luck on Monday. Please don't worry; Dr. Jones is one of the best out there. I'm scheduled with Dr. Cacucci, Dr. Jones' partner, for August 19th. Honey, you are in EXCELLENT hands! My co-worker had hers done a couple years ago by Dr. Jones, and she has lost over 100 lbs. and looks fabulous! I know you'll be fine. Your son will be glad in a couple more years when he will be old enough to understand, his mommy can do more with him, can play with him and keep up with him, unlike you'd be able to now. Good luck, Sweetie, and God Bless!

Marla, may your surgery be uneventful and recovery quick. My advice is to take each moment as it comes. Try not to panic. Keep in mind that you're doing this to be healthy and a great side-effect is getting thin! We're here for you!

Marla, Girl I relate to what you are saying!! My surgery is this Thursday(7-17) and for the past 24 hours I have been scared sh--less! I too look at my daughter and think what if....I talked with my counsler Friday and told her I was afraid I might die and she told me that with out the surgery I would die, so what to do? I don't fell like I can continue like this anymore so I will try what has been suggested to me a little thing called The Golden Key. I am to pray and "give this matter to God" then when I start to worry about it again (and I know I will) AI have to remember that I have give this to Him and not to take it back, I have to think of God instead. Then try to breath in saying "God is" and while breathing out say "with me" over and over and over. I hope this offers you some relief. You are not alone and I thank you for sharing your fears with me, it lets me know I am not alone or the only one haveing these thoughts. My thoughts and prayers will be with you, your family and your "team". Godspeed your recovery and your new journey! L, Edye

Marla - I was a TOTAL basketcase before my surgery. It's normal. Good luck on your upcoming surgery! I hope it is very uneventful and problem free. I’d like to offer some advice. Please remember to take it slow after surgery. Sleep as much as you can. You’re probably not going to have any energy after surgery; I think it is your body’s way of adjusting to your new digestive system. Rest when you’re tired. Also, I’m sure you’ve heard about going through a period of morning in regards to food and "why did I do this to myself". It may or may not happen, but remember it will only be temporary. About 1 1/2 weeks after surgery I had an appointment with my surgeon and I was REALLY down about not being able to eat and the fact that it hurt when I sipped water. After my appointment I got in my car and looked over and in the car next to me were two people eating Taco Bell. Silly me, I started to cry (and I don’t EVEN like Taco Bell) because I couldn’t eat it even if I wanted to. Then on my very long ride home, I cried every time I passed a fast food restaurant. I just kept thinking that I really messed up my insides and made a big mistake. Anyway, the next day I was fine (and able to drink water without the pain of a gas bubble). In fact, I always have extra cash on me now because I’m not stopping in for fries or a burger all the time. I hope this advice helps. OH! Don’t worry about getting in all your protein the first couple of days/weeks....the important thing is keeping yourself hydrated – try to drink (sip) as much water as possible. You’ll do fine! Have a safe journey to the losing side! ~J

I just wanted to say GOOD LUCK on your surgery. Take a deep breath, try to relax. Know that we all care about you and are wishing you the best. Think positive, it really does help. After surgery, REMEMBER,….turn, cough, and take deep breaths, and walk to prevent complications. Hold your incision when you cough, it helps it hurt less. Smile, keep your chin up! And lastly, if your chin does fall, just remember, from this position it is easier to moon people! (Also, humor helps too!)
