Tempe St. Luke's Hospital (COE)

"They made my experience a very positive one. The staff was knowledgeable and catered to every need."

Amy J Koler

"Dr. Koler is young, and extremely confident. My impression hasn't changed, I've just been able to very open and honest, and in return was treated like a "normal" (hate that word) person. Dr. Koler and the whole Wish Center staff are wonderful. They run their office like clock-work. You're never uncomfortable, they supply you with loads of information and are always available to answer questions. I like everything about my experience with Dr. Koler and the Wish Center. Future patients should know that she's one doctor that you can be totally open with, and feel free to ask any questions. She's great! The Wish Center requires that you have a support person who will be helping you through your venture. The support person attends your appointments with you so they can ask questions, and they learn with you about the process. Aftercare program makes a lot of sense! Protein drinks, milk, juice, water for the first 2 weeks, liquid or pureed foods for 4 weeks, soft solids for 2 weeks, then normal (much reduced!) diet. The first risk on every bit of information presented is the possibility of death. They are right upfront on the issue. When you consider that there are people exceeding 500 pounds (not that this makes them bad people, by any means), with major co-morbidities, it makes sense that the risk of death is a reality. I would rate my entire experience thus far with the Wish Center a 10! Great people, caring organization. I think both bedside manner and surgical competence are important. This is such an emotional issue, that having a doctor with a poor bedside manner would make it difficult to feel good about your decision. "
