Hi Linda! I was looking for people who have had the DS with Dr. Oakley--I am scheduled for mine on March 25th. There aren't that many people who have had this surgery around here! I am kind of scared--but so excited too! I would like to go to a support group meeting before my surgery, but I am SO night blind, and with all that road constuction, yikes! Anyway, did you have a drain when you went home, or just at the hospital? suzanne s

9-30-01 well I am now post op. everything went well. I had a little trouble with my breathing at first, but that is cleared up now. Hated the leak test the crap they have you drink is just awful. The stuff stayed in my esophigus and would not move. so the had to tilt the table and have me turn this way and that. But the results were good and I got some ice chips and apple juice that night. That Next morning I had Chicken broth and Jello. I would never in a million years think that those two things could taste so heavenly.......lol Last night I had some Cream of Mushroom soup that was pureed. Oh that was like nectar of the gods... I Licked the bowl. well enough for now. I will be on again soon and post my hospital experience. thanks for the prayers....you got me through it... love to all Linda

I spoke with Linda today and she is doing well and sounded really chipper for just having had her surgery yesterday. She will be having her leak test tomorrow. If all goes well, she'll be able to start on clear liquids. Yea!
